INSTITUTIONAL ARCHIVE: SITE VS. ACTIVITY CONTRADICTIONS

SOURCE Cross-reference link from NYC Department of Cultural Affairs
CONTEXT Transitioning site-responsive inquiry into geospatial representation data.
This node archives the conceptual inquiries established during the NYC Public Artist in Residence (PAIR) term. The fundamental investigation into "contradictions between a site and the activity within it" has been transitioned into the active geospatial observation series conducted by NICHEBOMB. THEORETICAL TRANSITION While municipal residencies often focus on the physical and cultural implementation of creative solutions to civic challenges, NICHEBOMB focuses on the digital representation layer of these sites. We identify where physical occupancy exceeds digital surfacedness, creating a new kind of institutional visibility gap.
MUNICIPAL REFERENCE LAYER:
The research phase of this project originated under the PAIR open call protocols. See original residency details at:

GEOSPATIAL OBSESSION The original PAIR premise that artists are creative problem-solvers is applied here to the problem of Entity Resolution. We observe the Manhattan commercial corridors—specifically the Broadway-Lafayette "Core Area"—where the digital layer fails to accurately resolve the density of the physical environment.
